Ending lessons

It's November and the weather is getting colder, this means horse lessons are over. I don't think I'm going to be starting lessons back up in the spring. Sorry, It's been fun teaching, but I'm going to get more education in training horses. Have a good one!!

JUSTICE

September 19th Lucky Stables said good bye to one of our beloved horses. Justice died at 12:45 Saturday morning. I was riding him up the Pleasant Grove waterfall trail. Keith was riding Hope right behind me; we were headed up to Tarzan's bath. 100 yds past the falls Justice "tied up" a term which is when they have a burst of alactic acid and their muscles become like stone. (his entire body had a cramp) Tieing up has killed thousands of horses, but even more horrifying is when he cramped he wasn't able to control himself and fell off a cliff into the stream. He loved water. He loved to swim, and play in it. Justice loved to run and he would give his all every time I got on him. Right before he lost control he looked back at me, and told me to get off. I have never in my life felt so sure of what he wanted and was telling me. To the end Justice was a hero, he deserved the justice and freedom he got. We all loved him and will all miss him so very much. He is running without tiring now and will forever be free. Sleep well my friend.

I have been takeing new and old lessons. Sign up now so you can get the spot that you want. We are also at a new location which I'm quite excited about. We will have a proper areana to work in and just an all around a better facility. I'm looking forward to see old and new faces. There are many surprises for the comming year that I'm poud to anouce when the time comes.

But out of courage, will power, and love a horse can do great and wonderful things that even the horse it's self didn't know was possible. Wild and true the freedom of a heart is powerful... but once you add love to any creature, that's when the beauty of it all comes together in perfect harmony.

No lessons for july

This month there will not be any lessons. My sisters have decided that I need a vacation and are sending me to Boston to live with Angi my oldest sister for a month. Thank you all for understanding. lessons will start up again the 1st of August. Thank you all for the support you give lucky Stables. And can't wait to see you again.

It's finally summer and we are switching the lessons from the school schedule to the summer schedule. This will allow us to teach when it is not so hot during the day. lessons are now in the morning times. Talk to Amy to schedule a lesson time for the summer enjoyment. Have a great summer.

Happy Halloween everyone!!! I hope everyone has a great Halloween and just as a reminder there will be no lessons on that Friday of Halloween. There will be lessons held for the rest of the week. Just don't get sick off of candy!!

There will be NO lessons the 3rd week in October! That would be the 20th-24th. I will not be able to teach that week because of previous planning and obligations that I have agreed too. I will be in Indiana all that week for Nationals. Hope to see you your planned times before and after that week.

Horse care

Taking care of your horse is very important. It help keeps them healthy, happy, and feel good. Brushing your horse regularly keeps their coat clean, brings out the shine and it feels like a massage. It is also good and necessary to clean and take care of your horses hoofs. By cleaning it regularly it prevents rocks or any object from getting stuck and casing a bruise. This will case your horse to go lame for a couple days.

Meet Justice one of the horses at Lucky Stables. He is a 16.2 hand bay guilding. Justice is a great horse that is looking for a new home. He is 1/2 quarter horse and 1/2 tb. He is smoth to ride and responds to the slightest leg or hand camand you give him. He is great on trail rides, loads, stands when being shoed, never gets in your space and is very sweet. In the past he has done barrel/pole races, and raceing, but I would rather he didn't continue. please help us find him a great new home. call amy at 369-3775 or e-mail at english.jumper@hotmail.com

Trot poles

Erika is practicing the trot poles. Keeping Hope collected, tucking her head, bending the pole and rounding her back, allowing her to pick up her feet and pushing her forward. This excesses the horse and rider, and building a relationship and trust.

learning balance

Haylee is putting her arms out in order to learn how to use her legs to gain balance on the horse so that she doesn't use her hands. This will help her not pull on the horses mouth. Using your hands for balance will confuse the horse and case conflict and frustration.

You can see Martha ridding Hope in a collected walk. Martha is keeping Hope's head nicely tucked and using leg pressure to round her back keeping her moving forward and collected. This keeps her circulation the energy, keeping Hope moving forward and preventing her from stooping from the pressure on the bit.
